For the first time, General Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force —a division of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards primarily responsible for extraterritorial military and clandestine operations, has been captured speaking a fluent Arabic. The video is believed to be recorded near the Iraqi city of Tikret where Soleimani is reportedly leading the Iraqi Army and its allied Shiite militias in the fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS).
In the short video, Soleimani is seen giving religious advice to two young militiamen and through them to the joint forces fighting for Tikrit. This is the first time Soleimani appears in a video speaking in Arabic.
